Today in 1962, the NS Savannah made its maiden voyage. It was built in the late 1950’s and was the first nuclear-powered civilian ship. She was in service for almost 10 years, serving as a luxury yacht/cargo vessel, before being decommissioned in January 1971 for financial reasons. Currently, NS Savannah can be found moored at Pier 13 of the Canton Marine Terminal in Baltimore, Maryland.
