Today in 1885, renowned French biologist Louis Pasteur successfully tested his vaccine against rabies on 9-year-old Joseph Meister, who was bitten by a rabid dog. Though the result was a success, the methods were deemed questionable as Pasteur had no medical license or even knowledge of medical procedures. Nonetheless, with the help of two actual doctors, he was able to administer his vaccine.
