Today in 1963, the first home video recording device was demonstrated at BBC Studios in London. The Telcan was invented by Norman Rutherford and Michael Turner, and produced by the Nottingham Electronic Valve Company. It cost £60 (roughly $650 today) and only recorded for around 20 minutes at a time, and only in black and white.
