Today in 1995, Superman actor Christopher Reeve was paralyzed after his horse, Buck, stopped short of a jump (an action referred to as a refusal), sending Reeve flying forward and onto his head. Reeve remained paralyzed from the neck down for the remainder of his life, but continued to act, direct, and promote spinal injury research until his death in October 2004.
